Qualitative Energy Control for Hydro systems

abinsula project R&D quench

The main objective of the QUENCH project was the implementation of a
framework for the optimization of hydro-energy requirements for agriculture and public green management.
The framework designed and implemented by Abinsula and DIEE has available energy and water production/consumption data collected and acquired through local sensors (temperature/humidity) and remotely transmitted (through Internet) to relate them to environmental data such as weather forecasts and/or other parameters that can significantly change the result of the forecast.

The energy optimization frame work developed is the innovative element of the project and is a substantial improvement compared to existing systems used only by energy managers and water distributors.
Within this context it is possible to identify new methodologies and technical solutions. In particular, the following areas of innovation have been identified:

  • Integrated monitoring of the hydro-energy needs of a particular site
  • Development of an integrated and adapted IT-Embedded infrastructure for communication with metering devices
  • Development of low cost measurement devices and related radio communication (low power consumption, high range).

Abinsula at a glance

Abinsula is one of the main Italian players in embedded, web and mobile solutions. It stands out for its ability to create custom software and hardware based on customer needs, for outstanding data management systems connected to an excellent use of telemetry, a technology used in several sectors, from automotive to energy, for data transmission and monitoring.
