Framework of key enabling technologies for safe and autonomous drone applications
Drones can perform aerial operations to combat aircraft and their use brings significant economic savings and environmental benefits, while reducing the risk to human life.
Drone-based service and product innovation, driven by higher levels of connectivity and automation, are constrained by increasing dependence on poorly interoperable proprietary technologies and risks to people, other vehicles and property. SESAR JU has identified that this issue has a strong impact on European innovation, which requires R&D investment and incentives for the convergence of shared technologies and markets as remedies. Actions that create globally harmonised, commercially exploitable but widely accessible R&D ecosystems should be implemented publicly.
COMP4DRONES will support a holistically designed ecosystem ranging from application to electronic components, implemented as a tightly integrated multi-vendor and compositional drone architecture solution and a chain of tools integrating compositional architecture principles.
