For an important automotive supplier, an electronic control unit capable of managing ecall has been developed, with the aim to provide rapid assistance to drivers involved in road accidents. The challenge was to create a robust system that was always active, that did not suffer from memory leaks and designed to have long uptime periods and to be updated via ether. Communication with the vehicle network was also managed, defining a protocol for information exchange. In order to manage communication between the various applications on board the control unit and the software components, a middleware has been developed which acts as an arbiter, distributing information on battery, airbag, CAN data and GPS signal status.

SDK - AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENT SUPPLIER
For an important customer operating in the global automotive market, Abinsula has developed a customized software development kit (SDK) which allows third parties to develop dedicated applications on an electronic control unit. The main complexity faced was the creation of an easy to use system which should also prevent the device from being vulnerable to tampering. This was achieved through the definition and implementation of a set of APIs and an SDK perfectly integrated with the existing software. A specific Eclipse plugin has also been developed making it possible to compile and deploy applications developed by third parties that do not need to know in detail the electronic control unit functioning.
