E.INS ecosystem – Ecosystem of Innovation for Next Generation Sardinia is the program funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to strengthen the collaborative relationship between science and business. By focusing on processes of value co-creation and technology and knowledge transfer, it aims to mitigate the social impacts generated by the crisis and increase the level of territorial inclusion in Sardinia.
The ecosystem is aimed at supporting innovation processes and promoting their diffusion, facilitating the transfer of technologies to the production system, involving local realities in challenges related to innovation and sustainability, and driving the Sardinian territory toward a truly knowledge-based economy.
The Spoke 3 of the E.INS project, which focuses on the sheep supply chain, aims to provide companies with an effective working tool that will enable them, through data analysis, to bring to light and quickly resolve any critical issues in the different stages of production and processing.
The main objective of Spoke 3 is to develop APPàre, a digital information and management platform that can provide important services to the farmer, veterinarian, and animal researcher. By collecting different types of data on a temporal and spatial scale, the platform will be able to provide important metrics, statistics and alerts. Automatically collected data from the field and other pre-existing platforms can be correlated with laboratory reports and veterinary assessments to be transformed into decision support tools for users through the scientific knowledge that is integrated. The platform will be designed as a “check-up” tool of the Sardinian extensive and semi-extensive livestock farming systems and in the connected transformation industry and services, intended to reveal the apparent and hidden demand for digital innovation to support decision making.
The main Abinsula contribution to the Spoke is related to the design, development and implementation of the APPàre platform, implementing a practical tool in the context of animal management. Abinsula collaborates with project partners to define the technologies and methodologies for the design and development, as well as for the accurate definition and requirement definition including stakeholder needs (e.g., farms, future collaborators etc).
A particular focus has been posed to the interoperability of the platform and the integration of heterogeneous data coming from various platforms, equipments and laboratory reports.
Similarly, the design will be based on the state of the art, creating interoperability interfaces both to allow open access to data from outside and to interface with external activities and platforms. Finally, Abinsula will support platform validation with the final users.
