R&D PROJECT: SMART MOBILITY
Reference Architectures for digital connected cars
A large amount of data is every day produced in the word: maps traffic data satellite images, car localisation. All these data if collected and elaborated, can be disruptive inside the car and make our cities Intelligent
RADICES will design and implement a Reference Architecture for the Digital Connected Cars, that is an enabler for both: autonomous and electric vehicles.
The architecture will include a device/platform resident in the car (in charge of Abinsula) and a cloud framework able to provide smart services (in charge of Sun Yat-sen University).
Nowadays, the new paradigm of car technology is the Digital Car, a new and emerging concept where the car is a node of a more complex digital ecosystem and need to communicate with all the other nodes of the ecosystem for sharing data and receiving new and smart services.
During the project Abinsula will develop a protocol portfolio that would help with autonomous and electric cars, based on is V2X or Vehicle-to-Everything.
The communications protocol layer will be able to manage the communication of the vehicle with everything, and it will be one of the most important enablers for future cars, autonomous and electric.
This new feature will make the digital cars aware of each other much like how people interact.
Another fundamental feature developed in the platform is the direct communication of the car with infrastructure like intelligent buildings, smart roads, traffic lights, bridges, railroads, airports and other intelligent transportation systems.
