Cagliari is leading the “Cagliari Digital Lab” project within the 5G technology support program, specifically on axis 1 “House of Emerging Technologies (CTE),” which is funded by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. The project involves several partners: the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Cagliari, CRS4 Research and Development Center for Higher Studies in Sardinia, WindTre, TIM, Abinsula, Widata, Greenshare, the Cyber 4.0 Association and the Artes Advanced Robotics and enabling digital Technologies & Systems 4.0 Consortium.
Cagliari Digital Lab takes shape in a world where digitalization and technological innovation have become essential for city management and business development. With the aim of improving and simplifying the citizens’ quality of life, the project places Cagliari into the category of Smart Cities.
The main objective is to create an environment in which to experiment with new technologies and share technological knowledge with start-ups and SMEs wishing to exploit the opportunities offered by digital transformation.
Experimentation and technology transfer projects will be implemented based on the use of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things, quantum computing, 5G and 6G.
The project includes a path called “Contamination Bootcamp” for startups and companies, which provides tools and skills for the implementation of innovative projects focused on technological development.
