Sardegna 2014-2020 Azione 1.1.3. bando “Servizi per l’innovazione nelle MPMI” (Ed. 2018) –
Domanda di accesso cod. SERV_INN-101 – Prot. n. 000149 del 09/01/2020
To complement the services currently offered, Abinsula through its services for innovation in MPMIs has launched ABISAR, a new product/service in the area of creating software modules close to safety critical applications and in networks CAN.
This is to all intents and purposes an innovative service for Abinsula, as it follows much higher standards than the infotainment software developed so far by the company, and it is also intended to give solution to more complex certification and control requirements. Abinsula’s goal in relation to entering the market with the new service is to enter the Tier 1 category of the industry’s value system, making a real qualitative leap that will enable it to increase its competitiveness at the international level. This new specialization will complement those already present in Abinsula, shifting the focus from infotainment to other automotive modules, from telematics control units, to in-car communications, to High Security Modules (HSMs) for in-car information encryption and security.
In order to bring the new service to market, it was necessary to structure an A-Spice-compliant software development (a process model for the software lifecycle, customized for the automotive sector, complying with the requirements set by the ISO/IEC 15504 standard), according to ISO 9001 quality processes and framed in ISO 27001 information security aspects certification mechanisms. The operating system involved in the new development complies with the Autosar standard mentioned earlier, thus quite different from Linux and Ability, services that have made Abinsula grow great but that today need to be integrated in order to embrace a complete automotive offering.
In order to offer this new service, Abinsula has proceeded to configure and customize the operating system for customer boards, thus effectively creating its new product line in the automotive sector.
The operating system configurator, which will allow the company the integration of the new types of software in the systems used by customers, has already been developed internally; while the Innovation Plan is composed of fundamental and complementary third-party services in order to effectively test and certify the new service; as well as to prepare the company for its positioning in the new niche of the target market. Therefore, the proposed Innovation Plan consists of different phases, beginning with the current situation in which Abinsula has developed software (the innovative intervention has therefore in this case already been implemented), but technical and specialized advice was needed to address the next steps that aim to position the new service in the market.
